There is a boys Catholic High School here in San Antonio, Texas (Central Catholic)that requires every student to participate a minimum of three years in ROTC. What strikes me about this requirement is that instead of prepping our young men for war and the machine that conducts wars, shouldn’t they be prepping our young men to work for peace and promoting and prepping these young men for priesthood? This so-called Catholic high school produces more soldiers for Bush and war than it produces soldiers for God and peace. Catholics MUST take a lead role in society whenever necessary to condem war and to actively and agressively promote peace. As a Catholic I’m ashamed that O’Reilly, Buchanan and other cold hearted conservatives identify themselves as Catholics. They are inidviduals who have no earthly much less heavenly idea of what it means to be Catholic. To be Catholic is to strive and to want to be like Jesus Christ; to love those who hate you, to respond to war with peace, to forgive those who offend and hate you the most. Those who consider themselves Catholic but still continue to support war have lost sight of whats most important. They have put their government and their country before their God. Whenever a conflict arises between God’s law and a governments law, A true Catholic knows that God’s must always superceed. A true Catholic cannot love God and support war. This is an equation that will never add up. A devoted Catholic must always put God before any government….period. There is no gray area. Theres God’s way and the wrong way.
